There’s something universal about a two-year-old. Every time I’ve seen a two-year-old lately, there’s some little sparkle of mischief in his eyes, a hint of innocent adventure, and the gap-toothed grin that reminds me of my own two-year-old boy.

This handsome little man is growing up so fast; I really can’t believe he’s two years old! I saw him for his newborn session, his six-month session, his one-year-old session, and now, seriously, how can he be TWO already?! I love the little wave in his hair, his little belly button, and his shy smile. We shot his session on his birthday. He is Two. And two is great! Happy Birthday, little guy!

This family is so happy and fun, and these kids have SO much energy! I loved the light shining through the trees. What a beautiful spring day for a family session! These images were shot on “Earth Day,” and their little girl really liked that tree. I giggled when she kissed the tree, and I’m glad I caught a picture of it!

This little beauty was 9 days old at the time of her newborn session. She was 8lbs even at birth, but she looks so much smaller than that to me. She is so teeny, and she has such delicate features. I imagined her as a little spring bird, fresh in the nest. What a joy she was to photograph!

These kids just keep growing up, as little ones do. It’s been a year since I photographed this family, and our 2012 fall session was a little tougher… We shot this session on November 11th, and I was very, very pregnant with Claire. It was also getting a bit chilly as the sun went down, but the kids were having so much fun being outside, and the light was so beautiful. I just love sunset photo sessions.

Dear Claire,

You are two months old… I just can’t believe it! You are getting bigger everyday. You are smiling a lot now, and starting to give a hint of a laugh. You “talk” to us, and we love your little coos and noises. You love to be moving, whether it’s riding in the car, sitting in the swing, being in the rocking chair with me or daddy or Nana, or hanging out with me in the Moby wrap. You do not like to stop!

Daddy put this onesie on you last night, and I cracked a huge grin when I saw you in it. It’s so perfect – you really are my sunshine! You are the one who lights up my day, even in this dreary gray wintertime. You are my beautiful little ray of sun. I love you so very, very much.
